Labradorite

It’s like having the northern lights at your finger tips.

“The beautiful colors of the Northern Lights are created by the Earth's spectra of gases and the height in the atmosphere where the collision of particles from the sun and the Earth's gases takes place. Our naked eye can most easily see the green-yellow part of the spectrum where the sun emits most of its light.” Similarly, labradorite’s beautiful colors are reflected when light touches it’s twining surface within the stone. What we see is called labradorescence, and it originates from the inside, making it much more fascinating than what is simply on the surface.

Labradorite is generally found in Labrador, Canada. But, there is a Labradorite gemstone deposit located here in Utah, near Clear Lake. The surrounding rock is volcanic rock from the pleistocene age, which is over a million years old. This tough exterior is definitely worth the work that it takes to reach facetable labradorite.

There are no patterns or bounds to this stone. A true representative of transformation and preservation; the perfect stone to guide you through major life events/changes. Using this beautiful stone may ease yours, or someone you love, most difficult transitions.

Check out these labradorite rings below we made for this collection or schedule a workshop to make your very own!
